KYT Helmet Safety Certifications
Every KYT helmet sold by KYT Americas is certified to recognized safety standards. This page explains what each certification means and which KYT models carry it.
DOT FMVSS 218 (United States)
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218 is the US Department of Transportation standard for motorcycle helmets. The manufacturer certifies that each helmet meets it, and the DOT label on the back of the helmet shows that certification. Every KYT helmet sold by KYT Americas is DOT certified.
ECE 22.06 (Europe and many other countries)
UN ECE Regulation No. 22 is the helmet standard used across Europe and in many other countries. Its current 06 series replaced 22.05 and tests helmets harder: impacts at more points on the shell and at more than one speed, a rotational (oblique) impact test, and stricter visor tests. The ECE approval label is sewn onto the chin strap.
FIM homologation (world-championship racing)
The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) requires its own helmet homologation for its world championships, including MotoGP and WorldSBK. The KX-1 Race GP is FIM homologated.
